Chateau Yquem is noted for its extraordinary longevity. Strong vintages reach their full potential once cellared for a decade and longer. With diligent care, white wines from the estate may be cellared for longer than a century. Over that time, the fruity qualities of the wine decrease in intensity with the wine being more able to develop a richer complexity.
Chateau Yquem is widely acknowledged to be one of the best white wines produced anywhere on the planet. It has rich complexity, strong concentration, high acidity balanced by sweetness as well as exceptional longevity. Annual production varies but averages about 100,000 bottles with sales over ten million euro.
