1970 Chateau Pavie Macquin

Semi translucent brick red, perfectly in sync with its lifespan. Very light and delicate odor here, just faintly indistinctive fruit left (red cherry?) but lots of forest to replace it : mushroom, earth and dry leaves are clearly present here accompanied by tobacco, tar and wet tealeaves (black tea).

The first sip is very light and a bit tart but given enough time to get accustomed to the open air it comes around perfectly : impeccable balance now between crisp acidity and warmth of the alcohol, incredibly soft and subtle tannins add to the structure and gives it enough weight. It’s medium to full bodied with a lovely supple and juicy aftertaste, making this not only real joy to drink but a great classic Bordeaux as well.
