1995 Château l'Arrosee - St Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classé
This estate has changed owners quite a bit and most recently been bought by Domaine Clarence Dillon from Haut Brion who fused and renamed it Quintvs.
The color of the 95 is medium brick red to pomegranate, still mostly red but the slightest brown starting to show nonetheless.The first aromas to emerge are meaty, leathery and even a bit of stable, so very evolved. Quickly those tertiary aroma’s dissipate and the wine opens up with lots of red fruit (cherry and red berries), sweet spices (cinnamon, licorice) and a nice woody undertone, much more what you’d expect for a wine just a year shy of being 2 decades old. The same quality in the mouth as well : medium bodied with nice touch of sweetness and great warmth ending in a soft tannic finish. This is a great example of merlot dominated Bordeaux. The acidity, alcohol and tannins are so well balanced out making it a very accessible and rewarding passe-partout.
